Microneedling for skin rejuvenation in Mirdif, Dubai covers treatments that share a device and little else, because needle depth changes what you are actually buying. At Dermabloom Medical Center, Villa 44C, 83rd Street, Mirdif, Dr Sarah Magdy sets the depth to your concern rather than to a package name. To book, call 04 268 8226 or message +971 56 598 6039.
That explains why quoted prices vary so widely, and why two people describing the same treatment report completely different experiences.
What “Rejuvenation” Actually Means Here
| Concern | Does microneedling help? |
|---|---|
| Rough or uneven texture | Yes — among its best uses |
| Enlarged-looking pores | Yes, appearance improves |
| Atrophic acne scarring | Yes, depending on scar type |
| Fine lines and crepiness | Moderately |
| Dullness | Yes, though cheaper options often match it |
| Stretch marks | Modestly, over a long course |
| Significant laxity | No — needs a different approach |
| Lost volume | No |
| Deep static wrinkles | No |
| Melasma and pigmentation | Only as a delivery method for other actives |
Read the bottom half of that table before booking. Microneedling earns its place for texture and scarring, and disappoints anyone expecting a lift.
Depth Decides Everything
This is the part clinics rarely explain, and it matters more than the brand of the device or the serum applied afterwards.
| Depth | What it does | Downtime |
|---|---|---|
| 0.25–0.5 mm | Surface refresh, product absorption, glow | A few hours |
| 0.5–1.0 mm | Texture, pore appearance, fine lines | One day |
| 1.0–1.5 mm | Collagen stimulation, early scarring | One to two days |
| 1.5–2.5 mm | Established atrophic scarring | Two to three days |
A glow facial and a scar treatment therefore share a machine and almost nothing else. Depth also varies across your own face within a single session, since skin over the cheek tolerates more than skin over the temple or around the eyes.
So when you compare prices, ask what depth the treatment uses. A cheap session at 0.25mm is not a bargain version of a scar treatment — it is a different service.
How It Works
Fine needles create thousands of controlled micro-channels through the epidermis into the upper dermis. Your body reads that as injury and responds by producing new collagen and elastin over the following weeks.
Doctors call this collagen induction therapy, and the important word is induction. You are prompting your own skin to rebuild rather than adding anything to it. Consequently results appear gradually, peak around three to six months after a course, and depend on how well your skin heals.
Which Version Do You Need?
Most people arrive asking for microneedling when they need a specific variant of it.
- Acne scarring needs greater depth, more sessions, and usually a combination with subcision or other techniques. Our acne scar page sets that out properly.
- Significant laxity needs radiofrequency microneedling, which delivers heat at depth. That is a different device with its own contraindications, including implanted electronic devices.
- Pigmentation needs the needling used as a delivery route for depigmenting actives, alongside photoprotection. Our pigmentation page covers the full picture.
- Hair thinning uses microneedling differently again, typically alongside platelet-rich plasma.
- General texture and glow is the straightforward version, and the one this page describes.
Add-ons layer on top: vitamin cocktails, polynucleotides, growth-factor serums, platelet-rich plasma. Their evidence varies enormously, and each has its own page. Meanwhile the needling underneath stays the same.
Microneedling Against the Alternatives
Versus chemical peels. Peels work chemically on the surface and suit pigmentation and dullness well. Microneedling works mechanically and reaches deeper, so it suits texture and scarring better. Many people benefit from both at different points.
Versus ablative laser resurfacing. Laser generally achieves more for deep scarring and significant photodamage, with considerably more downtime and more risk. In Fitzpatrick IV to VI that risk rises sharply, because heat and light drive pigment change.
The darker skin argument. Microneedling works without heat or light, so it avoids the pigment risk that makes ablative resurfacing hazardous in darker skin. That is a genuine advantage rather than marketing, and it explains why this treatment suits so many patients here.
What It Will Not Do
- Lift or tighten meaningfully.
- Replace lost volume.
- Remove deep static wrinkles.
- Clear melasma or existing pigmentation on its own.
- Cure acne, and we will not treat over active inflammatory acne.
- Last forever. Skin continues ageing, so maintenance matters.
Your Course
- Consultation. Dr Sarah assesses your skin, names your actual concern, and recommends a depth and a variant. Sometimes that recommendation is a different treatment entirely.
- Preparation. Cleansing, then numbing cream with time to work.
- Treatment. Twenty to forty minutes depending on area and depth, with depth varied by region.
- Course. Typically three to six sessions, four weeks apart. Scarring needs more.
- Review at three to six months, with photographs under matched lighting.
Before and After
Before: stop retinoids and acids five to seven days beforehand. Avoid sun and self-tan for two weeks. Tell us about isotretinoin within six months, cold sore history, keloid tendency, autoimmune conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup.
Afterwards: expect redness in proportion to the depth used — hours at the shallowest, two to three days at scar depth. Use a bland moisturiser and SPF 50 only at first. Meanwhile skip makeup for 24 hours, and avoid gym, sauna, steam, swimming and hot baths for 48 hours. Restart actives after five to seven days.
Risks
Common and expected: redness, mild swelling, tightness, pinpoint bleeding at greater depths, and light flaking.
Less common: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, particularly in Fitzpatrick IV to VI; cold sore flares; and temporary breakouts.
Uncommon but more consequential: infection; scarring where treatment goes too deep or over inflamed skin; and tramlining, where visible linear track marks follow poor technique such as dragging the pen across the skin rather than lifting between passes. Where cocktails accompany needling, delayed infection weeks later becomes a consideration, and our microneedling tier page covers that in detail.
Who We Cannot Treat
This treatment does not suit pregnancy or breastfeeding, active inflammatory or pustular acne, active infection, an active cold sore, flaring eczema or psoriasis in the area, open wounds, or isotretinoin within the last six months.
Please raise these before booking: a keloid or hypertrophic scarring tendency, autoimmune or connective tissue disease, immunosuppression, bleeding disorders or anticoagulants, poorly controlled diabetes, and any previous poor healing after a skin procedure. Additionally, mention any pigmented lesion in the area — we assess it first, and skin lesion excision covers that.
Price
Prices across the market vary enormously, and three things explain almost all of it: the depth used, the add-on applied, and whether numbing cream sits inside the quote. A shallow session with no add-on should not cost what a scar-depth session with platelet-rich plasma costs. Ask for the depth and the add-on named, then compare like with like. Dermabloom quotes firmly at consultation — call 04 268 8226. UAE health insurance does not cover cosmetic treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do microneedling prices vary so much?
Three things explain nearly all of it: the needle depth used, the add-on applied afterwards, and whether numbing cream sits inside the quote. A surface session at 0.25mm with no add-on is a genuinely different service from a scar-depth session with platelet-rich plasma. Ask for the depth and the add-on named, then compare like with like.
What depth do I need?
It follows your concern. Surface refresh and product absorption sit around 0.25 to 0.5mm with a few hours of redness. Texture, pores and fine lines sit around 0.5 to 1.0mm. Collagen stimulation runs 1.0 to 1.5mm, and established atrophic scarring needs 1.5 to 2.5mm with two to three days of downtime.
Will it tighten my skin?
Not meaningfully. Microneedling improves texture and stimulates some collagen, though it does not lift significant laxity. Radiofrequency microneedling delivers heat at depth and addresses that better, but it is a different device with its own contraindications including implanted electronic devices. Anyone promising a lift from standard microneedling is overselling it.
How does it actually work?
Fine needles create thousands of controlled micro-channels through the epidermis into the upper dermis, and your body responds to that controlled injury by producing new collagen and elastin. Doctors call it collagen induction therapy, and induction is the operative word — you are prompting your own skin to rebuild rather than adding anything to it.
When will I see results?
Gradually, with the peak around three to six months after a course rather than days after a session. A short-term glow appears within a week from swelling and hydration, which is not the real result. We photograph under matched lighting and review properly at three to six months, so progress gets measured rather than remembered.
How many sessions will I need?
Typically three to six, four weeks apart, for texture and general rejuvenation. Acne scarring needs more, often alongside other techniques. Maintenance afterwards is occasional rather than continuous, since skin keeps ageing and the result is not permanent.
Is it better than a chemical peel?
Different rather than better. Peels work chemically on the surface and suit pigmentation and dullness well. Microneedling works mechanically and reaches deeper, so it suits texture and scarring better. Plenty of people benefit from both at different points in a plan, which is a decision worth making at consultation rather than by browsing.
Is it safe for darker skin?
Comparatively, yes — and it is one of the treatment’s real advantages. Microneedling works without heat or light, so it avoids the pigment risk that makes ablative laser resurfacing hazardous in Fitzpatrick IV to VI. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation remains possible, so we use conservative depth, treat a test area and insist on daily SPF 50.
What are track marks?
Visible linear lines left after treatment, also called tramlining. They follow poor technique, typically dragging the pen across the skin rather than lifting it between passes. Correct technique prevents them, which is one reason this belongs in trained hands rather than in a home device or a salon.
Which add-on should I choose?
It depends on your concern and your budget, and the evidence behind them differs enormously. Platelet-rich plasma has the strongest support, particularly for acne scarring. Vitamin cocktails have the weakest. Polynucleotides and growth-factor serums sit in between, with limited data. Each has its own page, and the needling underneath stays the same regardless.
Can I use a home roller instead?
Home devices work at very shallow depths and cannot reach the dermis, so they may help product absorption while doing little for texture or scarring. They also carry real infection risk when cleaning is imperfect, and rollers tear rather than puncture. If you already own one, bring it and we will tell you honestly what it can do.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream makes it manageable at every depth, though deeper treatment feels more. Shallow sessions feel like light sandpaper, while scar-depth work produces pinpoint bleeding and more sensation. Bony areas such as the forehead and jawline register more than the cheeks. Ask whether numbing is included, since some quotes exclude it.
Can I have it if my acne is still active?
Not over active inflammatory or pustular acne, because needling across inflamed lesions risks spreading infection and worsening scarring. We settle the acne first, which sometimes takes months. The same caution applies within six months of isotretinoin, since skin healing is altered during that window.

Microneedling is a medical procedure. A licensed medical practitioner must see you face to face and assess your skin first. Microneedling carries reasonable evidence for skin texture, pore appearance and atrophic acne scarring, and meta-analysis support when combined with platelet-rich plasma for acne scarring. It does not lift or tighten significant laxity, does not replace lost volume, does not remove deep static wrinkles, and does not clear melasma or existing pigmentation on its own. Needle depth determines the indication, the downtime and the price, and treatments sold under similar names may differ substantially. Results build over months, are not permanent, and vary between individuals. Risks include post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, infection, scarring where treatment is too deep or over inflamed skin, and linear track marks following poor technique. Where cocktails or serums accompany needling, delayed infection presenting weeks to months later is a recognised risk. We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding, within six months of isotretinoin, over active inflammatory acne, active infection, cold sores, flaring eczema or psoriasis, or over pigmented lesions. Darker skin types carry a higher risk of pigmentary change. Nothing on this page is a diagnosis. Dermabloom Medical Center — DHA Licence No. [INSERT DHA LICENCE NUMBER].
