The Salmon DNA & LED facial in Mirdif, Dubai pairs polynucleotide
(PDRN) actives — the ingredient everyone calls salmon DNA — with clinical LED light therapy
to calm inflammation, support repair and improve skin quality over a course. At Dermabloom
Medical Center, Villa 44C, 83rd Street, Mirdif, it is performed in a licensed medical clinic
led by Dr Sarah Magdy, so you get an honest assessment of whether it is the right treatment
for your skin. Call 04 268 8226 to book.
This is one of the most hyped treatments in aesthetics right now, so it is worth being
clear about what is well-supported and what is not. The science underneath it is real. Some
of the marketing around it is not.
What Is Salmon DNA (PDRN)?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide — short fragments of DNA purified from salmon
milt. Salmon is used because its DNA sequences are highly compatible with human DNA, and the
purified fragments contain no cells, no proteins and nothing capable of transferring genetic
material. You are not receiving fish genes. You are receiving small, well-characterised
nucleotide chains.
Their mechanism is credible: PDRN acts on the adenosine A2A receptor and feeds the
cellular salvage pathway, which in practice means anti-inflammatory signalling and support
for tissue repair. Polynucleotides have real clinical literature behind them, particularly
for skin quality, hydration and the fine crepey texture around the eyes.
The Part Most Clinics Skip: Getting It Into the Skin
Here is the detail that separates an effective treatment from an expensive serum
application. Intact skin blocks molecules above roughly 500 daltons. PDRN molecules are
considerably larger than that. Applied to unbroken skin and left to soak in, most of it
simply does not reach the living layers.
That is why the strongest evidence for polynucleotides comes from injectable treatments,
where the actives are placed directly in the dermis — and why any clinic claiming
regeneration and collagen remodelling from a serum wiped onto closed skin is overstating its
case.
So the delivery step is the treatment. At Dermabloom the facial is offered two ways, and
you are told plainly what each one can and cannot do:
- With microchannel delivery (dermapen / microneedling). Thousands of
microscopic channels are created, the PDRN is applied through them, and LED follows to calm
the skin and support healing. This version genuinely delivers the actives. Expect redness
for 24 to 48 hours. This is the version that produces change. - Topical with LED, needle-free. PDRN applied to intact skin followed by
LED. Comfortable, zero downtime, and a good soothing and hydrating treatment — but it is
a conditioning facial, not a regenerative one. Choose it before an event or if you cannot
have downtime.
If someone sells you the needle-free version on regeneration claims, that is the moment to
ask questions.
The LED Step
LED phototherapy is non-thermal photobiomodulation — light at specific wavelengths
absorbed by the mitochondria, changing cell behaviour without heating or damaging tissue.
Unlike much in aesthetics, it has solid published evidence:
- Red light (around 633 nm). Stimulates fibroblasts and collagen
synthesis and calms inflammation. A sham-controlled trial of a 633 nm LED mask over 12
weeks showed measurable improvement in forehead, frown and eye-area wrinkles. - Blue light (around 415 nm). Targets Cutibacterium acnes, the
bacterium involved in acne. Studies alternating red and blue LED reported lesion counts
falling by roughly 46% at four weeks and 81% at twelve. - Near-infrared (around 830 nm). Penetrates deeper to support wound
healing and reduce post-treatment inflammation.
Note the timescale in those figures — weeks, not one session. LED works cumulatively. A
single session calms and soothes; a course is what shifts acne or wrinkles. Most patients find it comfortable, side effects are uncommon in normal use, and it suits every skin tone.
Why the Two Work Well Together
The pairing is logical rather than gimmicky. PDRN supplies the repair signalling; LED
reduces the inflammation that would otherwise slow healing and stimulates the fibroblasts
that do the rebuilding. When microneedling is used, the red and near-infrared light also
settles the skin faster afterwards — which is exactly what LED is used for clinically after
procedures.
What It Realistically Achieves
- Better skin quality and hydration. The most consistent result — skin
that feels denser, smoother and less papery. - Calmer, less reactive skin. Useful for redness-prone and sensitised
skin. - Improvement in fine crepey texture, particularly around the eyes,
where polynucleotides have the most supportive data. - Support for healing after acne, procedures or barrier damage.
- Gradual improvement in acne, where blue LED is included across a
course.
What it will not do: fill deep lines, lift sagging skin, replace filler or botox, clear
established melasma, or resolve acne scarring. It improves skin quality. It does not
change facial structure. If your concern is structural, a
dermatology
consultation in Mirdif will point you at the treatment that actually addresses it.
Who It Suits
- Dull, dehydrated, tired-looking skin that has lost bounce
- Fine crepey texture, especially under and around the eyes
- Sensitive, reactive or redness-prone skin that cannot tolerate acids or strong
actives - Skin recovering from acne, over-exfoliation or barrier damage
- Deeper skin tones — both PDRN and LED are non-ablative and carry no pigmentation
risk - Anyone wanting a course-based improvement rather than a one-off glow
Important — fish allergy. PDRN is salmon-derived. If you have a fish or
seafood allergy, say so before booking. This is not a formality.
Also wait if you have active inflamed or cystic acne, broken or infected
skin, cold sores, sunburn, or are inside the healing window after a peel, laser or
injectable. Tell us what you have had done and when. Discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with
the doctor first.
How Many Sessions?
Both components work cumulatively, so this is a course treatment by nature. A typical
plan is four to six sessions two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every four to eight
weeks. One session leaves skin calm and hydrated; the texture and quality changes build from
session three onwards. Book a single session if you want to try it — but judge it on a
course.
Salmon DNA & LED Facial Price in Dubai
This sits in the premium tier of facial treatments, because PDRN is a costly active and
the microneedling version is a clinical procedure rather than a beauty service. It is priced
below injectable polynucleotide treatments such as skin boosters. Course pricing is better
value than single sessions, and since results are cumulative, most patients book that way.
Dermabloom confirms exact prices and course options when you book — call
04 268 8226. Cosmetic treatments are not covered by UAE health
insurance.
Why Have It at Dermabloom in Mirdif
- A medical clinic, not a spa. Microneedling breaches the skin barrier —
it belongs in a licensed medical setting with sterile technique and a doctor on site. - Straight answers about delivery. You are told which version you are
having and what it can realistically achieve. No regeneration claims attached to a
needle-free serum. - Honest sequencing. If your skin needs a course of peels, a
prescription or an injectable rather than a facial, Dr Sarah Magdy will say so. - Safe across all skin tones — nothing ablative, nothing thermal, no
pigmentation risk. - Local and convenient. Villa 44C, 83rd Street — minutes from Mirdif City
Centre with easy parking, serving Mirdif, Mirdif Hills, Uptown Mirdif, Al Warqa, Al Mizhar,
Al Khawaneej and Rashidiya. - Evening and weekend appointments, and female therapists as standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is salmon DNA in skincare?
Salmon DNA is the common name for PDRN — polydeoxyribonucleotide, short DNA
fragments purified from salmon milt. Salmon is used because its sequences are highly
compatible with human DNA. The purified material contains no cells or proteins and
cannot transfer genetic material. It works through anti-inflammatory signalling and
support for tissue repair.
Does a topical salmon DNA serum actually work without microneedling?
Only up to a point, and it is worth understanding why. Intact skin blocks molecules
above roughly 500 daltons, and PDRN molecules are much larger, so most of a topical
application does not reach the living layers. Applied to closed skin with LED, it is
a soothing and hydrating facial. For genuine regenerative effect, the actives need
microchannel delivery or injection.
Is there downtime after a Salmon DNA and LED facial?
The needle-free topical version has none — make-up straight away. The microneedling
version leaves redness for 24 to 48 hours, similar to mild sunburn, and the LED step
helps settle it faster. Plan the microneedling version at least a week before any
event.
Can I have this if I am allergic to fish?
Tell us before booking. PDRN is salmon-derived, and although purification removes
proteins, a fish or seafood allergy must be declared and assessed by the doctor
before any treatment. Never leave this until you are in the chair.
What does the LED light actually do?
LED is non-thermal photobiomodulation with good published evidence. Red light
around 633 nm stimulates fibroblasts and collagen and calms inflammation; blue light
around 415 nm targets the bacteria involved in acne; near-infrared around 830 nm
supports deeper healing. It works cumulatively over weeks, not in one session, and is comfortable for most patients and suits all skin tones
How many sessions do I need?
Typically four to six sessions two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every
four to eight weeks. Both PDRN and LED work cumulatively. One session leaves skin
calm and hydrated, but texture and quality changes build from around the third
session.
Is this the same as Rejuran or polynucleotide injections?
No. Injectable polynucleotide treatments place the actives directly into the
dermis with a needle and have the strongest clinical evidence. This facial delivers
PDRN topically or through microchannels, which is gentler, cheaper and lower risk,
but less potent. If injectables would suit your goals better, Dr Sarah Magdy will
tell you at consultation.
Will it get rid of my wrinkles or acne scars?
No. It improves skin quality — hydration, density, calmness and fine crepey
texture, particularly around the eyes. It does not fill deep lines, lift sagging
skin, replace botox or filler, clear established melasma or treat acne scarring.
Those need different treatments, and a consultation will identify which.
