PRP face treatment in Mirdif, Dubai uses concentrated platelets from your
own blood to stimulate repair in your skin — no synthetic product, no foreign material, and no
allergy risk. It also involves drawing, processing and re-injecting your blood, which makes
the facility you choose more consequential here than for almost any other aesthetic treatment.
At Dermabloom Medical Center, Villa 44C, 83rd Street, Mirdif, Dr Sarah Magdy performs it in a
licensed medical setting. Call 04 268 8226.
You will see this marketed as a “vampire facial”. The nickname is unhelpful, because it
makes a blood-handling medical procedure sound like a spa service — and the section below on
why that distinction matters is the most important part of this page.
This is a medical procedure performed following a face-to-face consultation. It is not
suitable for everyone.
What PRP Is
Platelet-rich plasma is made from your own blood. A small sample — usually 10 to 20ml — is
drawn, spun in a centrifuge to separate its components, and the platelet-rich fraction is
extracted.
Platelets do more than clot. They carry growth factors — PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF, EGF and
IGF among them — which are the signalling molecules your body uses to coordinate tissue
repair. Concentrating and returning them to the skin puts those repair signals where you want
activity.
The genuine advantage: it is autologous. Nothing foreign is introduced, so
there is no allergy risk, no product to reject, and nothing left behind. For patients wary of
synthetic injectables, that is a real point in its favour.
The Safety Issue Nobody Should Skip
This treatment handles your blood. Done properly, that is routine. Done badly, it is a
bloodborne pathogen risk — and there is a documented case that should inform where you go.
The US Centers for Disease Control investigated an unlicensed spa in New Mexico
where at least three clients contracted HIV after PRP microneedling facials.
It was the first CDC investigation to link HIV transmission to non-sterile cosmetic injection
services. Investigators found single-use equipment being reused, and unwrapped, non-sterile
syringes left on counters, in drawers and in ordinary bins. Nearly 200 former clients and
partners were traced and tested over five years.
The CDC’s own conclusion was that adequate infection control practices at facilities
offering cosmetic injection services can prevent transmission of HIV and other bloodborne
pathogens.
So before you book PRP anywhere, ask:
- Is this a licensed medical facility, and can you see the licence?
- Who draws the blood, and are they medically qualified to do so?
- Is every tube, needle, syringe and cartridge single-use, opened in front of you?
- How is your labelled sample kept separate from anyone else’s?
- Is there a sharps and clinical waste protocol?
If those questions produce vague answers, walk out. This is the one aesthetic treatment
where the venue matters as much as the technique.
How It Is Delivered
Two routes, often combined:
- Intradermal microinjection. PRP injected in small deposits across the
treatment area, placing growth factors directly in the dermis. - With microneedling. PRP applied through freshly created micro-channels,
which adds collagen induction from the needling itself. This is the combination usually
called a vampire facial, and it gives two mechanisms in one session — see
Dermapen
microneedling for how the needling component works.
Which is used depends on your concern, your skin and how much downtime you can accept.
What It Treats
- Overall skin quality — texture, radiance and firmness
- Acne scarring, particularly combined with microneedling
- Fine lines and early ageing
- Crepey under-eye skin, where its autologous nature is an advantage in
delicate tissue - Post-inflammatory redness and skin recovering from inflammation
- Enlarged pores and uneven tone
- Support for healing alongside other procedures
Being Honest About the Evidence
PRP has a substantial published literature, and it is worth knowing where the confidence
sits.
The strongest evidence is for hair loss — androgenetic alopecia in
particular. For facial skin rejuvenation and acne scarring the evidence is reasonable and
broadly positive, though less robust than for hair.
The main weakness across the field is standardisation. Centrifuge speed,
spin time, number of spins, final platelet concentration and whether white cells are included
all vary between clinics and between studies. That variation makes results harder to compare
and means “PRP” at one clinic is not necessarily the same preparation as at another.
Practical implication: ask what system and protocol are used, and be sceptical of anyone
presenting PRP as a guaranteed outcome. It is a legitimate, well-established treatment with
genuine benefits and real variability.
What It Will Not Do
- Add volume or restore contour. That needs
filler. - Lift sagging skin. Moderate laxity needs
RF microneedling;
significant sagging needs surgical assessment. - Remove dynamic wrinkles. That is
botulinum
toxin. - Clear melasma or established pigmentation. Those need pigment-directed
treatment. - Fill a true under-eye hollow or fix fat herniation.
- Work as a one-off. This is a course treatment.
Your Appointment
- Assessment. Skin concern, medical history, medications, blood
disorders, platelet function, anaemia and any relevant conditions. Blood tests may be
requested. - Preparation advice. Be well hydrated, and avoid NSAIDs such as
ibuprofen and aspirin for several days beforehand where medically safe, since they
affect platelet function and can reduce the quality of your PRP. Never stop prescribed
medication without asking. - Blood draw. A standard venepuncture, 10 to 20ml, into labelled
single-use tubes. - Centrifuge. Processed on site while you wait, typically five to fifteen
minutes. - Numbing, then treatment by injection, microneedling or both.
- Course. Typically three to four sessions four to six weeks apart, with
maintenance every six to twelve months.
Recovery
- Day 0. Redness, mild swelling, small bumps at injection points. A small
bruise at the blood draw site in your arm is common. - Days 1–2. Redness settles. With microneedling, expect more redness and
a possible faint grid pattern. - Days 3–5. Light flaking if microneedling was used.
- Weeks 2–6. Improvement in radiance and texture begins.
- Months 2–6. Collagen-related improvement builds. Judge the course
here.
Aftercare: no makeup for 12 to 24 hours; gentle cleansing only; no retinol,
acids or exfoliants for one week; no gym, sauna, steam or swimming for 48 hours; and daily
sunscreen without exception.
Risks
Common and expected: redness, swelling, injection-point bumps, bruising at
both treatment sites and the arm, and tenderness.
Less common: infection at an injection site; cold sore reactivation, so
declare a history; prolonged redness; and lightheadedness or fainting during the blood
draw.
The one that depends entirely on the facility: bloodborne infection from
poor infection control or reused single-use equipment. In a licensed medical facility with
proper protocols, this should not happen — as the New Mexico case demonstrates, it happens
where those protocols are absent.
No allergy risk to the product itself, since it is your own blood.
Who Should Not Have It
Not suitable if you have a platelet disorder or platelet dysfunction; have
a low platelet count or significant anaemia; have an active blood-borne infection; have an
active skin infection or cold sore in the area; have a haematological malignancy or active
cancer; or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Discuss carefully before booking if you take anticoagulants or antiplatelet
medication; take regular NSAIDs; have a bleeding disorder; have an autoimmune or inflammatory
condition; are on immunosuppressive treatment; have a history of keloid scarring; have poorly
controlled diabetes; or have a needle phobia or history of fainting with blood draws — worth
mentioning so the appointment can be managed comfortably.
Price in Dubai
PRP facial treatment in Dubai typically costs between AED 800 and AED 3,000 per session,
most commonly in the AED 1,000 to AED 3,000 range depending on clinic, area, the system used
and whether PRP is combined with microneedling.
Because three to four sessions produce the result, ask for the course price. Be
particularly cautious of very low prices here — this is a treatment where the cost of doing it
safely, with single-use consumables and a proper medical setting, is a meaningful part of the
price. Dermabloom quotes a firm price and course plan at consultation — call
04 268 8226. Cosmetic treatment is not covered by UAE health
insurance.
Why Have PRP at Dermabloom in Mirdif
- A licensed medical facility, which for a blood-handling procedure is the
entire point. - Blood drawn and processed by medically qualified staff, with
single-use consumables and clinical waste protocols. - Your sample labelled and handled individually, never alongside another
patient’s. - Performed by a dermatologist, who assesses whether PRP is the right
treatment for your concern in the first place. - Honest about the evidence, including where it is strong, where it is
moderate, and why protocol variation matters. - Honest routing. If you need filler, RF microneedling, toxin or pigment
treatment instead, that is what you will be offered. - Local and convenient. Villa 44C, 83rd Street — minutes from Mirdif City
Centre with easy parking, serving Mirdif, Mirdif Hills, Uptown Mirdif, Al Warqa, Al Mizhar,

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a PRP or vampire facial safe?
In a licensed medical facility with proper infection control, yes — and there is no
allergy risk since it is your own blood. The risk lies entirely in facilities that
handle blood badly. The CDC investigated an unlicensed New Mexico spa where at least
three clients contracted HIV from PRP microneedling, finding reused single-use
equipment and non-sterile syringes left in drawers and bins. Ask to see the facility
licence and confirm all consumables are single-use.
What should I ask a clinic before booking PRP?
Five questions: is this a licensed medical facility and can you see the licence; who
draws the blood and are they medically qualified; is every tube, needle, syringe and
cartridge single-use and opened in front of you; how is your labelled sample kept
separate from other patients’; and is there a sharps and clinical waste protocol. Vague
answers to any of these are a reason to leave.
How strong is the evidence for PRP on the face?
Reasonable and broadly positive for skin rejuvenation and acne scarring, though
less robust than the evidence for hair loss, which is PRP’s strongest indication. The
main weakness across the field is standardisation — centrifuge speed, spin time,
platelet concentration and white cell content all vary between clinics, so PRP at one
clinic is not necessarily the same preparation as at another.
Should I stop any medication before treatment?
Where medically safe, avoiding NSAIDs such as ibuprofen and aspirin for several
days beforehand is advised, since they affect platelet function and can reduce the
quality of your PRP. Never stop prescribed medication without asking us first — that
includes anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs, which need discussion rather than
unilateral changes.
How many sessions and what does it cost in Mirdif, Dubai?
Typically three to four sessions four to six weeks apart, then maintenance every
six to twelve months. Dubai pricing generally runs AED 800 to AED 3,000 per session,
most commonly AED 1,000 to AED 3,000 depending on area, system and whether
microneedling is combined. Ask for the course price, and be cautious of very low
quotes on a treatment where safe consumables are a real cost. Call 04 268 8226.
Can I be allergic to PRP?
No. It is made from your own blood, so there is nothing foreign to react to and no
product left behind. That autologous nature is one of its genuine advantages, and it
makes PRP a reasonable option for patients who are wary of synthetic injectables. The
risks that do exist relate to the procedure and the facility, not the product.
Will PRP fill my lines or lift my face?
No. PRP improves skin quality, texture, radiance and scarring. It adds no volume,
so hollow cheeks or deep folds need filler; it does not lift, so moderate laxity needs
RF microneedling and significant sagging needs surgical assessment; and it does not
treat dynamic wrinkles, which need botulinum toxin.
Who cannot have PRP?
It is unsuitable with a platelet disorder or dysfunction, low platelet count or
significant anaemia, active bloodborne infection, active skin infection or cold sore in
the area, haematological malignancy or active cancer, or during pregnancy and
breastfeeding. Discuss anticoagulants, regular NSAIDs, bleeding disorders, autoimmune
conditions, immunosuppression, keloid tendency and needle phobia before booking.

PRP treatment is a medical procedure involving the drawing, processing and
re-injection of a patient’s own blood, and must be performed only in a licensed medical
facility with appropriate infection control. It is performed following a face-to-face
consultation with a licensed medical practitioner. PRP improves skin quality and does not
add volume, lift lax skin or remove dynamic wrinkles. Preparation protocols vary between
providers. Results are course-dependent and individual results vary. Not suitable for
everyone. Dermabloom Medical Center — DHA Licence No. 2528391.
