PRP with hyaluronic acid in Mirdif, Dubai combines your own platelet
growth factors with non-cross-linked HA in a single treatment — the HA acting as a scaffold
that holds the platelets in place so their signalling lasts longer than PRP alone manages. It
also gives you something PRP by itself cannot: a visible result on the day. At Dermabloom
Medical Center, Villa 44C, 83rd Street, Mirdif, Dr Sarah Magdy performs it. Call
04 268 8226.
This is the sensible answer to PRP’s main practical weakness. Injected on its own, PRP
disperses and clears relatively quickly, so the growth factors have a short window in which to
act — and you see nothing for weeks. Adding HA changes both of those things.
This is a medical procedure involving blood handling, performed following a face-to-face
consultation. It is not suitable for everyone.
Why Combining Them Makes Sense
The two components address different problems, and each covers a weakness in the other.
PRP contributes platelet growth factors — PDGF, VEGF, TGF-beta, EGF, IGF —
which signal fibroblasts and coordinate tissue repair. Its limitation is residence time:
injected alone into the dermis, the preparation diffuses and is cleared, so the exposure
window is short.
Hyaluronic acid contributes a viscous, water-binding matrix. Non-cross-linked
HA is not there to fill anything — it forms a network that physically retains the platelets
and plasma components at the injection site, slowing dispersal and prolonging release. It also
hydrates the dermis in its own right.
The practical outcome is a treatment with two timelines: immediate hydration and
freshness from the HA, then gradual repair from the PRP over the following weeks. PRP
alone offers only the second half.
The Closed-System Advantage
This is worth understanding, and it connects directly to the safety issue that dogs PRP
generally.
Dedicated PRP-HA devices use a single tube in a closed circuit: your blood
is drawn into a tube that already contains the hyaluronic acid, spun, and the resulting PRP-HA
network is drawn off without the preparation being transferred between open containers.
Two benefits follow. Clinically, platelets and plasma components are retained in a
cell-friendly matrix rather than being handled repeatedly. And from a safety standpoint, fewer
open transfers means fewer opportunities for contamination — relevant given that the CDC’s
investigation of HIV transmission at an unlicensed spa performing PRP facials found reused
equipment and non-sterile syringes left loose, as covered on our
PRP face treatment
page.
A closed system does not substitute for a licensed facility and proper protocols. It is,
however, a meaningful design advantage, and worth asking any clinic whether they use one.
What It Treats
- Dull, dehydrated skin with poor quality — where you want hydration and
repair rather than volume - Fine lines and crepey texture, face, neck and décolletage
- Crepey under-eye skin, where the autologous component and
non-cross-linked HA are gentler propositions than conventional filler - Acne scarring and post-inflammatory redness
- Hands, for skin quality alongside sun damage
- Skin recovering from inflammation or barrier damage
- Patients wanting minimal synthetic material — the HA is a temporary
scaffold, and the active component is your own blood
What It Will Not Do
- Replace filler. Non-cross-linked HA does not project tissue. Flat
cheeks, a recessed chin or thin lips need
proper filler. - Lift the face. Moderate laxity needs
RF
microneedling; significant sagging needs surgical assessment. - Remove dynamic wrinkles. That is
botulinum
toxin. - Fill a true under-eye hollow or correct fat herniation.
- Clear melasma or established pigmentation.
- Work as a single session. Like PRP alone, this is course-based.
Being Straight About the Evidence
The rationale for combining PRP and HA is mechanistically sound, and the technology is
well established — the best-known closed-system platform has a long clinical track record,
with its strongest published outcomes in joint and osteoarthritis treatment, where PRP-HA has
shown durable pain relief and functional improvement.
For aesthetic skin use, the honest position is that combination-specific evidence
is thinner than for either component treated separately. PRP alone has a substantial
facial literature; HA skin boosters have their own; head-to-head data on the combination
versus each alone in facial skin is more limited.
That does not make it a poor treatment — the mechanism is logical and the safety profile in
practice is good. It does mean you should be sceptical of anyone presenting it as dramatically
superior rather than sensibly complementary.
How It Compares
- vs PRP
alone: longer platelet residence and an immediate hydration effect. PRP alone
is cheaper and offers no same-day change. - vs HA
skin boosters alone: adds the biological repair signalling boosters do not
have. Boosters are cheaper and purely hydrating. - vs polynucleotide
injections: polynucleotides have stronger published data for skin repair,
particularly around the eyes, but are not autologous. Choose PRP-HA if using your own
biology matters to you.
Which is right depends on your skin and priorities, and you will get a straight
recommendation rather than the most expensive option by default.
Your Appointment
- Assessment. Skin quality, hydration, texture and whether your concern
is actually volume — because if it is, this is the wrong treatment. Medical history,
medications, platelet disorders and anaemia reviewed; blood tests where indicated. - Preparation advice. Be well hydrated. Where medically safe, avoid NSAIDs
such as ibuprofen and aspirin for several days beforehand, as they impair platelet function.
Never stop prescribed medication without asking. - Blood draw into a labelled single-use tube containing the hyaluronic
acid, by medically qualified staff. - Centrifuge on site, producing the PRP-HA network in a closed
circuit. - Numbing, then injection as fine intradermal microdeposits across the
treatment area, or through microneedling channels where appropriate. - Course. Typically two to three sessions four weeks apart, then
maintenance every six to twelve months.
Recovery
- Day 0. Small bumps at injection points — more noticeable than PRP alone
because of the HA volume — plus redness and mild swelling. A bruise at the arm draw site is
common. Skin often already looks fresher from the HA. - Days 1–2. Bumps settle as the HA disperses; redness fades.
- Weeks 1–3. Hydration effect established.
- Weeks 4–12. The PRP contribution builds — texture, tone and quality.
Aftercare: do not rub or massage the area for 24 hours; no makeup for 12
hours; no gym, sauna, steam or swimming for 48 hours; no retinol, acids or exfoliants for one
week; no facials, peels or microneedling for two weeks; no alcohol for 24 hours; and daily
sunscreen.
Risks
Common and expected: injection bumps for up to 48 hours, redness, mild
swelling, bruising at both the treatment area and the arm, and tenderness.
Less common: persistent small nodules; longer-lasting bumps in thin skin
such as under the eyes; infection at an injection site; cold sore reactivation, so declare a
history; and lightheadedness during the blood draw.
Facility-dependent: bloodborne infection where infection control is
inadequate. A closed-system device reduces handling steps but does not replace a licensed
facility, single-use consumables and proper protocols.
A note on reversibility: the HA component can be dissolved with
hyaluronidase if ever needed, and we keep it on site. The PRP component is your own tissue and
resorbs naturally. Volumes are small, so this rarely arises.
Who Should Not Have It
Not suitable if you have a platelet disorder or dysfunction; have a low
platelet count or significant anaemia; have an active bloodborne infection; have an active
skin infection or cold sore in the area; have a haematological malignancy or active cancer;
have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid; or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Discuss carefully before booking if you take anticoagulants or antiplatelet
medication; take regular NSAIDs; have a bleeding disorder; have an autoimmune or inflammatory
condition; are immunosuppressed; have a keloid tendency; have poorly controlled diabetes; have
had a previous reaction to any HA product; or have a needle phobia or history of fainting with
blood draws.
Price in Dubai
PRP-HA combination treatment is priced above standard PRP, because a specialised
single-tube device and the hyaluronic acid component are both part of the cost. Standard PRP
facial treatment in Dubai commonly runs AED 800 to AED 3,000 per session; expect the
combination to sit toward and above the upper part of that band depending on device, area and
number of tubes.
Because a course of two to three sessions produces the result, ask for the course price
rather than a single-session figure — and ask specifically which device or kit is used, since
that is where a meaningful part of the price and the safety profile lies. Dermabloom quotes a
firm price and plan at consultation with the system named — call
04 268 8226. Cosmetic treatment is not covered by UAE health
insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why combine PRP with hyaluronic acid?
Because each covers a weakness in the other. PRP injected alone disperses and
clears relatively quickly, so its growth factors have a short window to act. The
non-cross-linked HA forms a network that physically retains the platelets at the
injection site, prolonging release — and it hydrates the dermis in its own right,
giving a visible same-day result that PRP alone cannot provide.
Is the hyaluronic acid acting as a filler?
No. It is non-cross-linked, so it does not hold a shape or project tissue — its
role is as a scaffold and a hydrator. If you need volume or contour, that requires
proper cross-linked filler, and this treatment will not deliver it. Flat cheeks, a
recessed chin or thin lips are filler concerns, not booster concerns.
What is a closed-system PRP-HA device, and does it matter?
Your blood is drawn into a single tube already containing the hyaluronic acid, spun,
and the PRP-HA network drawn off without transferring the preparation between open
containers. Clinically it keeps platelets in a cell-friendly matrix; from a safety
view, fewer open transfers mean fewer contamination opportunities. It does not replace
a licensed facility and proper protocols, but it is worth asking whether a clinic uses
one.
How strong is the evidence for the combination?
The mechanism is sound and the technology well established, with its strongest
published outcomes in joint and osteoarthritis treatment. For aesthetic skin use,
combination-specific evidence is thinner than for PRP alone or HA boosters alone. That
does not make it a poor treatment, but be sceptical of anyone presenting it as
dramatically superior rather than sensibly complementary.
Should I choose this over plain PRP or plain skin boosters?
Choose the combination if you want both hydration and biological repair, and value
a same-day effect. Plain PRP is cheaper with no immediate change; plain HA boosters are
cheaper and purely hydrating with no repair signalling. Polynucleotide injections have
stronger published data for skin repair but are not autologous. You will get a straight
recommendation rather than the most expensive option by default.
Will I have visible bumps afterwards?
Yes, and slightly more noticeable than with PRP alone because of the added HA
volume. They settle within about 24 to 48 hours as the hyaluronic acid disperses.
Bruising at both the treatment area and the arm draw site is common. Allow a day or two
before any event.
Can it be reversed?
The HA component can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if ever needed, and we keep it
on site. The PRP component is your own tissue and resorbs naturally, so there is
nothing foreign to remove. Volumes are small, so this rarely arises in practice.
How much does it cost in Mirdif, Dubai?
Above standard PRP, since a specialised single-tube device and the HA component are
both part of the cost. Standard PRP facial treatment in Dubai commonly runs AED 800 to
AED 3,000 per session, with the combination sitting toward and above the upper part of
that band. Ask for the course price for two to three sessions, and ask which device is
used. Call 04 268 8226.

PRP with hyaluronic acid is a medical procedure involving the drawing, processing
and re-injection of a patient’s own blood, and must be performed only in a licensed medical
facility with appropriate infection control. The hyaluronic acid component is
non-cross-linked and does not provide volume or contour. Combination-specific evidence in
aesthetic skin use is more limited than for either component alone. Results are
course-dependent and individual results vary. Not suitable for everyone. Dermabloom Medical
Center — DHA Licence No. 2528391.
